Professor Kevin Morgan visits BPHA

December’s talk by Professor Morgan was very interesting.

Professor Morgan discussed a number of little known aspects of Birmingham’s radical past, Palme Dutts Sparkbrook election fight, and the Communist Party growth here in the 1930’s. Though the activity of the CPGB is well known, its Birmingham campaigns are not so well documented.

There was an excellent discussion around lessons learned from his years of oral history work and suggestions for how to conduct our work, and with the promise to come back perhaps if we organise a day conference in 2023 everyone was both grateful for this talk and looking forward to the next.
